Prospect aspires not only to produce great shows, but to do so with a commitment to a set of values in the way which we create:

COMMUNITY. We are ensemble-focused, and collaborative.

INNOVATION. We are pioneering and curious, and embrace change as part of the creative process.

EXCELLENCE. We work toward high-quality, ambitious and impactful processes and results.

CONNECTION. We want our work to be meaningful and life-affirming.

DIVERSITY. We engage a multitude of voices, and strive to elevate the full spectrum of humanity.

BALANCE. We value the humans at the center of our artistic processes, and their well-being.

Values

Prospect fosters and showcases today's new voices shaping tomorrow's musicals. In a pioneering spirit, we develop and produce new musical theater works. We sustain a supportive network within our field, including an artist alumni community of over 2,000 creative professionals shaping the next generation of the American musical. We provide a forum for artists and audiences to connect, and we nurture the work of this vibrant community by creating an inclusive space where fearless choices are possible.

About

The Hidden Sky
One Thousand Nights and One Day

Prospect was founded in 1998 and produced its first show in 1999. Over two decades, Prospect has mounted full productions of 40 new musicals, as well as presented hundreds of concerts, readings, and developmental labs, affirming our place as one of NYC’s foremost incubators of new musical theater talent.  While our creative work is now focused on new musical theater development, historically we have also produced new plays and numerous "revisals" and re-inventions of classic plays and musicals.
